Berthold Leimbach

Berthold Leimbach COORDINATOR, PROJECT SOCIAL DEMOCRACY

Berthold has been Resident Director of the FES Office in the Philippines since 2010. Prior to that, he held the position as Desk Officer for Western European Countries before moving to the Asia and the Pacific Department at FES Berlin. He was also FES Desk Officer for Small and Medium Scale Enterprise Development in Bonn before being stationed in El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Panama as Resident Director. Berthold holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Hohenheim University.

Adrienne Woltersdorf

Adrienne Woltersdorf COORDINATOR, PROJECT SOCIAL JUSTICE

Adrienne Woltersdorf is the Resident Director of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung’s Singapore based “Office for Regional Cooperation in Asia”. From 2012 to 2015 she was the foundations Resident Representative in Kabul, Afghanistan. As a political correspondent for taz, die tageszeitung, Adrienne was based in Washington and in Berlin, writing for Frankfurter Rundschau and Der Spiegel. She holds a Master’s Degree in Sinology, Political Science and Modern History from Freie Universität Berlin.

Marc Saxer

Marc Saxer COORDINATOR, PROJECT ECONOMY OF TOMORROW

Marc is the Resident Representative of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung India office and the coordinator of the Asian-European ‘Economy of Tomorrow’ project. Earlier, he was the Resident Director of FES office in Thailand.

Alexey Yusupov

Alexey Yusupov COORDINATOR, PROJECT PEACE AND SECURITY

Alexey serves as Country Director of FES Afghanistan since 2015 and is leading the Peace and Security Project of the Regional Programme in Asia. Before assuming this post, he headed the Almaty office of FES Kazakhstan from 2013. Alexey holds a Magister Artium Degree in Political Sciences, Social Anthropology and History of European Arts from the University of Heidelberg and is a graduate exchange student alumni from the University of Manchester.

Lukas Bauer

Lukas Bauer PROGRAMME MANAGER

Lukas has been with the FES Office for Regional Cooperation in Asia since 2013, managing programmes that advocate for binding and enforceable labour and social standards in trade agreements and preference systems. He also coordinates projects aiming to enhance regional tripartite social dialogue in ASEAN and to affirm decent work and socially just (inter-)regional integration processes such as ASEAN and ASEM. He studied political science and public administration in Leipzig and Speyer and holds two Master Degrees, one in Political Science and one in Public Administration and Management.

Natalia Figge

Natalia Figge PROGRAMME MANAGER

Natalia joined the FES Office for Regional Cooperation in Asia in 2010, where she has been managing programmes aimed at strengthening the social dimension of Asian cooperation and integration. She focuses on the thematic issues of gender equality and migration. In particular, she coordinates the regional programme on “Political Feminism in Asia”. Prior to working at FES, she worked at the Political and Economic Department of the Asia-Europe Foundation for six and a half years. Natalia holds an MA in Southeast Asian Studies from the University of Bonn, Germany. Born to an Indonesian mother and a German father, she has lived in Germany, Japan, Indonesia and Singapore.

Ramona Laczko-David

Ramona Laczko-David PROGRAMME EXECUTIVE

Ramona has been with the FES Office for Regional Cooperation in Asia since March 2016. She first started working with the office back in 2013 on the coordination of the external communication activities of the Foundation and organisation of project activities. She is a former Project Officer at the Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF) where she has worked in the management and administration of arts and culture websites, international artistic collaborations, festival programming and cultural policy research. Ramona holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Heritage: Policy, Management and Education from Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

Mila Shopova

Mila Shopova REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS

The regional communications advisor since February 2016, Mila is based in Bangkok, from where she coordinates the communications plan of FES in Asia and the production of communications materials for regional projects. She also manages the Regional Programme Asia website and Connect, a new global newsletter and web portal of FES in English. Before joining FES, Mila worked as free-lance consultant and researcher in the field of education, migration and labour, with focus on Southeast Asia where she has lived since 2010. She holds a master's degree in cultural anthropology from the New School for Social Research (New York City) and a master's degree with focus on cultural studies and history from the Institute for East European Studies, Freie Universität (Berlin).

Annie Teo

Annie Teo OFFICE MANAGER

Annie has been Office Manager of FES Office for Regional Cooperation in Asia since February 2008. She handles the financial and administrative aspects in the office, including Human Resource Management. Annie is trained in Accounting and has about 20 years of financial accounting experience. She was working in the commercial sector before she joined FES.

Sehaj Malik

Sehaj Malik PROGRAMME ADVISER

Sehaj serves as Advisor on the ‘Economy of Tomorrow’ project at FES’s India office. Prior to that, she worked with the UNDP on deputation to the Ministry of Finance in the Department of Economic Affairs in New Delhi, where she focused primarily on the BRICS and the G20. She has worked as an economist with Roubini Global Economics in London, and with a number of international NGOs. Sehaj holds an MSc. in International Economics from the University of Sussex and BA (Honours) in Economics from Delhi University.

Mandvi Kulshreshtha

Mandvi Kulshreshtha PROJECT MANAGER

Mandvi Kulshreshtha serves as Project Manager with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung India office. Before joining the Economy of Tomorrow team, she worked with the Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality unit within the India office for 10 years. Prior to this, she was assisting in the implementation of a project on Management Information System for Small and Medium Towns under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India. She holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.

Aryaman Bhatnagar

Aryaman Bhatnagar POLICY ADVISOR, PEACE & SECURITY PROGRAMME

Aryaman Bhatnagar is a programme advisor for peace and security policy at the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung India Office. Prior to this he has worked with two New Delhi-based public policy think tanks, Observer Research Foundation (2012-2015) and the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (2011-2012). He is currently a Fellow for the Transnational Terrorism working group as part of the Global Governance Fellowship Programme 2027.

Fraidoon Sekander

Fraidoon Sekander NATIONAL PROJECT COORDINATOR

Fraidoon works as National Project Coordinator for the 'Peace and Security' project at the FES Afghanistan office. Prior to this he headed the Department of Economic Development at the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS). He also worked as a cultural adviser for the United States Army in Afghanistan from 2004 – 2007. Fraidoon holds a BA in Economics from Kabul University, and holds an MA in Development Economics from the South Asian University (SAARC), New Delhi, India.

Ahmad Jalil

Ahmad Jalil FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR

Ahmad has been with FES Afghanistan as Financial Administrator since 2010. Prior to FES he was intern at the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan and at the United Nations Office for Project Services. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Finance.
